IOMega ZIPZIP disks gained some popularity in home computer use,and ZIP drives were installed even in some Apple Macintosh computers bymanufacturer. They became quite popular 'larger floppy', and even somescientific imaging devices had ZIP drives built-in. Included softwareoffered ease of use - to use ZIP drive in a new computer, for example toshow some images or presentation, it was needed only to run one program.Driver installed itself and opened a new drive letter for drive. ZIPdrives could be attached to parallel port, SCSI (there were combo versions- SCSI and parallel, depending of cable installed) or IDE (ATAPI - early pure-IDE versions are veryrare), and later units had USB capabilities. After USB flash drives cameto market, IOMega released 750MB ZIP, but it was too late for it and750MB ZIP never gained popularity.Unfortunately ZIP drives were prone toclick-of-death failures.

Zip Tools is a fullsuite of software, while ZIP Guest is a simple DOS driver onlyto run ZIP drive and access files. There are also Win95 versionsof Guest tool.Under DOS, you usually run guest with paraleterletter, like:guest letter=zinstalls ZIP under letter Z. Make sure the letter is notforbidden by LASTDRIVE. Parallel port ZIP won't work withunidirectional ports.
